Cool and cloudy weekend ahead for Sydney.

Today and yesterday were pleasant Sydney days, with plenty of sunshine warming the city to the high twenties. This, combined with a cool breeze and a dry airmass, created great weather for outdoor activities. The clear skies and low night time humidity provided favorable conditions for a good night's sleep.

However, a gloomier weekend is in store as southerly wind will turn easterly, bringing widespread cloud cover and showers to eastern NSW. Below average temperatures are forecast on both Saturday and Sunday, including the western suburbs.

Further west into NSW conditions are not much better, Sydneysiders looking for a warm and dry location to go camping for the weekend would have to drive towards the Central Tablelands or beyond. But although Dubbo could see temperatures rising into the high twenties in the weekend there is a risk of afternoon thunderstorms in this region too. Nights in the Blue Mountains will continue to be chilly, with the recent night time lows of 4 degrees on Thursday morning in Katoomba. Last night was a little warmer with 8 degrees, it is still well below the season's average. Daytime temperatures in Katoomba for the weekend will struggle to even reach the mid-teens for these days.

Towards the middle of next week warmer conditions across NSW and in Sydney can be expected.
